Pity Sex Share Comfortingly Hazy 'Pin A Star,' Announce Tour
In the fall of last year, Ann Arbor, MI's Pity Sex shared "What Might Soothe You?" a distorted, ugly-pretty song with an equally cultish visual. It was textured and eerily calming, a weird juxtaposition the band continues to excel at—there are moments that recall vintage emo sounds from their Midwest home and others that feel steeped in a goth-y, shoegaze tradition. Their latest single, "Pin A Star," plays to one of those distinctly '90s influences more than others: Here, Britty Drake takes the lead, her voice at the top of the mix in a way we haven't heard from the band before. They're not clean in their haze, but they are writing frustrated songs with newfound clarity. Listen to it below.
The band shared the new song with news of an upcoming tour. Pity Sex will be joined by the dynamic duo of PWR BTTM and fellow Run For Covers Records band Petal. Check out the dates after the song.
