The band Viet Cong have finally changed their name. Introducing: Preoccupations.
The Alberta outfit caused some controversy for naming their band after the bad guys from the Vietnam War, a reference to the brutal National Liberation Front. People protested the band's shows, and even had one concert canceled for the offensive name.
The decided to change their name in September 2015, saying that they were having conversations with the Vietnamese community about it. In a statement today (April 21), the band revealed their new name and that they're recording new music.
